The third day of the Long Island Rail Road strike has arrived and it’s the first day of the dreaded weekday commute.

It you are up and have had your coffee, this is a good time to get on the road.

Long Island’s main east-west thoroughfares, the Long Island Expressway and the parkways, are clear. The traffic website 511NY shows no traffic alerts for congestion or car crashes from Riverhead to Manhattan.

At the height of Monday’s commute, travel could be nightmarish across the region.
