They are not your typical J.Crew models, and they certainly don't look to be wearing any J.Crew clothing, but some of the East End's dedicated volunteer firefighters posed for the fashion retailer recently in a spread for Hamptons magazine.

On the fifth page -- nestled between ads for Tiffany & Co. and Johnnie Walker Blue Label -- is a portrait of seven members of the East Hampton, Springs, Amagansett and Sag Harbor fire departments in uniform.

On the opposite page, a message: "Thank you," it begins, listing the departments, "for your quick response to the recent fire at our Main Street, East Hampton store. We were relieved that no one was hurt."

It's signed, "Your friends at J.Crew."

The national retailer gave public thanks in response to an April fire that heavily damaged its East Hampton location -- a long-time fixture on Main Street.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. on April 23 in a compressor unit behind the neighboring Rowdy Hall restaurant, East Hampton fire chief Rich Osterberg, Jr. told 27east.com at the time.

Rowdy Hall was briefly closed for renovations and has since reopened, but the J.Crew building is still undergoing repairs. J.Crew opened a temporary store on Newtown Lane this week, according to a local blog, Hamptons Party Girl.
