1. Al Roker

Spend some time with the weatherman and author and learn about his "aha! moment" -- when he promised his dying father that he would change his way of living. Roker will speak and sign copies of his memoir, "Never Goin' Back: Winning the Weight-loss Battle for Good" at Book Revue in Huntington.

2."Jungle" Jack Hanna

The animal expert and nationally syndicated TV show host ("Jack Hanna's Wild Countdown") brings his wildlife friends to the NYCB Theatre at Westbury for the "Into the Wild Live" stage show. The family-friendly show highlights humorous stories and footage from his worldwide adventures. A meet and greet after the show gets you up close and personal with the zookeeper in safari clothes.

3. Winter Run Series

Join one or all three of these 5k runs in the series, which begins next Sunday at Heckscher State Park. That run will be followed by two others: Sunken Meadow in Kings Park Jan. 20 and Caumsett in Lloyds Neck Jan. 27. Get a discount by registering online in advance for $40. Awards will be given out for top three male and female in each age group -- refreshments follow.

4. Long live the King

Bay Street Theatre celebrates Elvis Presley's birthday (he would have turned 78 Tuesday) with a "Picture Show" weekend showcasing two of his films. "Speedway," co-starring Nancy Sinatra, fills the screen Friday, then Elvis rocks -- and gets in the boxing ring -- in "Kid Galahad" Saturday.

5. Disney on Ice

The magical world of Disney comes to life at the Nassau Coliseum -- with this "Treasure Trove" edition spotlighting classic characters from "Snow White" (Disney's first full-length animated film) to its 50th animated feature, "Tangled." You'll see Peter Pan, Ariel, Simba and a gathering of all the Disney princesses on skates. Bring your camera for after-the-show pictures.

6. Kilty pleasures

The Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiments of Scotland and The Band of The Scots Guards make a stop at LIU Tilles Center for a rousing night of ceremonial music from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. The 90-member troupe performs music on the bagpipes and drums, as well as Celtic dancing and traditional military marches from the British Isles.

7. "That's crazy!"

"30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan gets back to stand-up with a lineup of five shows at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown.

8. 'Blonde' ambition

See if blondes really do have more fun when Elle Woods (M.E. Junge) puts down the credit cards and hits the books at Harvard Law in CM Performing Arts Center's production of "Legally Blonde the Musical." The show opens Saturday and runs through Feb. 3.

9. Art you'll eat up

The Nassau County Museum of Art's "Brown Bag Lunch" series continues with museum docent Riva Ettus leading tours and talking about the museum's current exhibit, "Artists in America: Highlights of the Collection From the New Britain Museum of American Art." Participants can bring their own lunch and hear about paintings rarely seen on Long Island. If you're hungry for more, a 2 p.m. public exhibition tour follows.

10. Opera in Cinema

You'll feel like you're at London's Royal Opera House, where this prerecorded screening of a live performance of Bizet's "Carmen," took place. The production, in French with English subtitles, stars Anna Caterina Antonacci as the sultry lead, with Jonas Kayfmann.
