CORTLAND, N.Y. - Kris Jenkins let the fishing line stay in the water, refusing to take the live bait.

The nose tackle was asked about some of the chatter emanating from Albany, with a few Giants claiming that the $1.7-billion New Meadowlands Stadium is still theirs despite it being a joint venture and co-owned by both franchises.

Jenkins just brushed it off. "If that's how they feel, that's how they feel," he said Friday. "My job is to play football. My job is not to report the news or to comment on it. Now, when I retire and you want to pay me for that, then hey, fine. It's cool for them to feel that way, but we're here to stay and that's it.

"That's all I can say."

Mangold's back

Nick Mangold returned to practice after missing the previous two days following an accidental blow to the temple by defensive tackle Sione Pouha.

The Pro Bowl center joked he picked the wrong day to come back since the Jets were working live goal-line drills. But at least he wasn't groggy, cracking that he didn't take any aspirin. "No, drugs make sure you know exactly how it feels," he said.

Extra points

The Jets announced Green Day will be featured when they open the regular season by hosting the Ravens on "Monday Night Football." The band will perform live at halftime with the Broadway cast of "American Idiot." There will also be a halftime show with a fireworks display . . . Rex Ryan hasn't been impressed with S Donovan Warren, an undrafted free agent out of Michigan. He's unlikely to make the cut in a crowded secondary unless he steps things up soon . . . Gov. David A. Paterson attended the afternoon practice.
