Residents, politicians and aviation officials will gather Monday evening to discuss aircraft noise and pollution created by runway use at Kennedy Airport.

The 7:30 p.m. meeting will be at the Garden City Library at 60 Seventh St.

The event is hosted by the Town Village Aircraft Safety and Noise Abatement Committee, which represents nearly 145,000 people living in 13 communities in the towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead.

The meeting will focus on an increase in traffic over Old Westbury, Williston Park, Westbury, Mineola, Albertson, East Hills, East Williston, Garden City, Stewart Manor and Floral Park as jets approach runway 22L at Kennedy.

In 2004, the Port Authority logged 25,338 flights over the areas represented by the committee. In 2011, that number had grown to 68,000 and represented 32 percent of all arrival traffic into JFK.

Meeting organizers said representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Port Authority will attend the meeting.
