Jets starters will play in preseason opener vs. Bucs
Aaron Glenn revealed that “everybody’s playing” in Friday’s preseason opener against Tampa.
Glenn said it’s important for the starters to play because the Jets are running new systems on offense and defense. He added there “is science behind” making sure players get a certain amount of game reps. Glenn said he will divvy up between 25-30 reps over the three preseason games.
“The risk of injury actually goes down that first part of the year,” Glenn said.
Veteran linebacker Demario Davis, entering his 15th season, is a fan of playing in the preseason. He said it’s all about “your approach,” and you should treat preseason games like the regular season and regular-season games like playoff games.
"All the great players that I've been around and had phenomenal careers, Hall of Fame guys, that's how they approached them,” Davis said.
