The Port Authority will hold a public meeting at the Elmont Memorial Library Tuesday night to discuss a runway extension plan for Kennedy International Airport.

Port Authority representatives will present a revised environmental assessment on the proposed extension, said Assemb. Michaelle Solages (D-Elmont), who is hosting the meeting, in a statement. Residents have voiced concerns about the plan and are encouraged to raise those issues at the meeting, Solages said.

"Many of the residents who live in the area have made formal written comments about the significant negative impacts the project would have on the community and the environment," Solages said in a statement.

There is a 30-day comment period on the environmental assessment that ends Nov. 18, Solages said, adding that it is important for concerned residents to also submit comments by that date.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the library, 700 Hempstead Tpke. in Elmont. More information is available by calling 516-599-2972.
