Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Southampton Village for a week's vacation Monday, the village's mayor confirmed.

Biden is scheduled to leave next Monday, Mayor Mark Epley said.

The vice president's schedule said that Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, would be in Long Island, New York, Tuesday. There are no public events scheduled.

Biden, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, is a frequent visitor to the Village of Southampton.

He was in Southampton last August, where he attended a fundraiser for President Barack Obama's re-election.

Biden vacationed in Southampton Village in both 2011 and 2010.

Biden's press office did not return calls for confirmation last week, when word started to spread in political circles of the upcoming summer retreat.

He's not the only possible presidential candidate summering in the Hamptons this year.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, are spending the summer at an East Hampton home.
