Aww, there's still some love left in the elevator. Aerosmith - despite everyone, including actual members of Aerosmith, thinking that they were - is apparently not splitting with singer Steven Tyler.

Tyler showed up onstage at the kickoff of the Joe Perry Project tour Tuesday night at the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza to say, "New York, I want you to know I'm not leaving Aerosmith," before kicking into the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' classic "Walk This Way" with Perry.

"I was totally surprised. I had no idea he was going to show up," Perry told People magazine in his first interview since the show. In fact, the pair hadn't spoken in weeks. "All I know is we walked off stage and were sitting taking our break [before] the encore and there was a bunch of commotion and I looked up and Steven was there."

It's quite an abrupt turnaround seeing as on Monday, Perry tweeted, "Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!"

He also told the Las Vegas Sun that he thought Tyler had left the band, though he couldn't confirm it because Tyler wouldn't return his calls.
