The next time the Jets take the field, they’ll line up against another team.

The Buccaneers, led by ex-Jets coach Todd Bowles, will be in Florham Park, New Jersey, for joint practices on Tuesday and Wednesday before Friday’s preseason game at MetLife Stadium.

Aaron Glenn expects the Jets to get “two days of really good work” against a team that made the playoffs five of the last six years. This will be the Jets’ first chance to see how their new offensive and defensive systems fare against an actual opponent. Glenn wants to see “the discipline of what we do on both sides of the ball.”

The offense under new coordinator Frank Reich has been sloppy the last two practices, racking up delay-of-game and false-start penalties. The defense, now called by Glenn, has been aggressive, pressuring quarterbacks, breaking up passes and even getting interceptions. But as Glenn said, “you get used to the offense.” The Jets have practiced against only each other eight times.

“Once you bring in another element from another team -- cover structures, run plays, pass concepts -- it really tests your discipline on how you're doing things,” Glenn said. “That's the good thing about joint practices is you get to test what you do against another team.

“So I'm just looking for our guys to improve and be disciplined about what we're doing.”
