Josh Charles, Joe Sopiak to play in charity softball game
When East End’s artists and writers get together Saturday
There are more than 30 artists and 30 writers on the respective rosters.
The Artists and Writers Softball Game is held every year at Herrick Park in East Hampton Village, and donations from the audience — $10 is recommended — go to support four local charities: East End Hospice, the East End Day Care Learning Center, Phoenix House and The Retreat, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
The roster can change from day to day, but two MVPs from previous artists’ teams — Josh Charles and Joe Sopiak — will be there, as will two MVPs from previous writers’ teams, David Baer and Mike Lupica.
Batting practice starts at noon, and the game begins at 2 p.m. If it rains, the game will be Aug. 25.
