3. Louie Anderson

4. See 'Goodfellas'

5. Harry Chapin tribute

Long Island musicians pay homage to the anti-hunger activist and singer-songwriter Harry Chapin in a special celebration at Eisenhower Park. The free outdoor "Just Wild About Harry" concert will feature the music of Patricia Shih, Stuart Markus, Gathering Time, Doc Butler and others. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets -- and a nonperishable food item for donation, if you wish.

6. Visit the old lens

Opening this week at the Fire Island Lighthouse -- a brand-new building housing the original Fresnel lens that once beamed from the top of the lighthouse. Visitors can see the historic lens, which was considered state-of-the-art technology when it was created in 1858.

8. Stony Brook Film Fest

The 10-day festival brings nearly three dozen independent, short and feature films from around the world for screenings at the university's Staller Center.
