Deliberations have ceased for the weekend at the trial of a New York City police officer accused of sodomizing a handcuffed suspect with a baton.

Jurors sent a note Friday saying a member needed the weekend to think about the case. Earlier Friday, a judge replaced a juror who admitted reading something about one of the defendants. Jurors have been deliberating for two-and-a-half days.

Michael Mineo contends he was sodomized with a police baton.

Officer Richard Kern has pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual abuse and assault. Two other officers have pleaded not guilty to hindering prosecution.- AP
