Kasey Gilbride leads Pierson/Bridgehampton to state softball semifinal

What a way to return to the state championships.
Pierson/Bridgehampton (14-7) will make its second consecutive appearance in the state semifinals after a commanding 24-7 victory over Haldane Wednesday in the Southeast Regional Class C final at North Rockland.
Kasey Gilbride went 4-for-5 with two triples, eight RBIs and five runs and Sam Duchemin went 4-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, five RBIs and four runs for the Whalers.
"It's crazy," coach Melissa Edwards said. "I don't know where it comes from but we're able to just click and it's amazing to watch it all happen. Our philosophy was to win every inning and we did."
Pierson/Bridgehampton will play Frewsburg in a state semifinal at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury.
