Kevin Love leads Timberwolves to easy win over Thunder
Kevin Love had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Ricky Rubio added 14 points, 10 assists and five steals to lead host Minnesota to a 100-81 win over Oklahoma City last night. Nikola Pekovic had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who will face the Knicks at the Garden tomorrow night. The Thunder's Kevin Durant scored 13 points.
76ers 109, Wizards 102: Thaddeus Young scored 29 points for visiting Philadelphia, which rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to ruin the home opener for John Wall (26 points) and the Wizards after stunning two-time defending champion Miami on Wednesday. "It's only two [wins]," coach Brett Brown said, "but we sure are happy."
Wizards coach Randy Wittman answered only two questions postgame and used language not appropriate for live television. "Commitment to . . . playing defense. That's what it is . . . The thing they haven't learned, and I got to figure out a way," Wittman said. "You could see it coming out of the locker room. You've got to respect the game, your opponent . . . Everything you get is 'no, we're OK.' We're not OK. We're 0-2. We're not OK."
Spurs 91, Lakers 85: Tony Parker had 24 points and Manu Ginobili added 20 for visiting San Antonio. Pau Gasol had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers.
Clippers 110, Kings 101: Chris Paul had 26 points and 10 assists for his third straight double-double for visiting Los Angeles. Blake Griffin added 20 points, 17 rebounds and six assists. Isaiah Thomas scored 29 points for Sacramento.
Suns 87, Jazz 84: Eric Bledsoe sank a three-pointer with seven-tenths of a second left for host Phoenix. After missing 10 of his first 11 shots, Bledsoe (18 points) scored the Suns' final 14 points.
Rockets 113, Mavericks 105: James Harden scored 34 points and Dwight Howard had 13 points and 16 rebounds for host Houston. Dirk Nowitzki had 22 points and Monta Ellis added 20 for Houston.
Bucks 105, Celtics 98: Two foul shots with 44 seconds left by Zaza Pachulia (20 points) gave the Bucks their first lead since the opening basket. Visiting Milwaukee trailed by 22 in the third quarter.
Grizzlies 111, Pistons 108: Mike Conley scored 22 points for host Memphis, which won in overtime.
Blazers 113, Nuggets 98: LaMarcus Aldridge scored nine of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as Portland snapped Denver's regular-season home winning streak at 23. Nate Robinson scored 24 points off the bench for the Nuggets.
Bobcats 90, Cavaliers 84: Kemba Walker had 23 points and seven assists to help Charlotte win its home opener.
