KEVIN W. WEBSTER

REPUBLICAN

BACKGROUND: Webster, 43, of East Marion, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. He is seeking his third four-year term. He did real estate appraisals for 13 years before being elected to the board. Webster is chairman of the East Marion Fire Department, a basketball coach and a former Little League coach. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Ithaca College and is a graduate of Greenport High School. He is a member of the Suffolk County and New York State Assessors' Associations. He is married and has a son.

ISSUES: The main issue facing the office is the responsibility to create a fair assessment roll and offer equal treatment for all taxpayers, Webster said. It's key "to be as professional as we can be and have an open office," he said. Webster noted his real estate background helps him choose proper comparable property values for comparison and generate fair assessments.
