You've heard of the Tony Awards? For some Long Island high school students, there are the upcoming TOBY Awards and the Teeny Awards.

The ceremony presenting the TOBY Awards - standing for Town of Babylon Youth awards - is May 26 at 7 at the West Babylon High School Performing Arts Center, at the intersection of Great East Neck Road and Route 109. It's free.

A committee from the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts has been viewing all the dramas and musicals performed this school year by the nine high schools in the town, and will award best lead actor, best drama, best musical and other awards. Students from some of the musicals will perform four-minute to seven-minute selections. 631-587-3696; babylonarts.com.

Teeny Awards

The eighth annual Teeny Awards is a similar program run by the East End Arts Council for 14 participating East End high schools. That ceremony is scheduled for June 6 at Riverhead High School, 700 Harrison Ave., and is open to the public for the first time. A red-carpet walk lasts from 2 to 3 p.m. and the show is from 3 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20, or $15 for students, at the East End Arts Council or online at eastendarts.org; 631-727-0900.

Some categories for the Teeny Awards include lead actor and actress in a comedy, in a musical and in a drama. The nominees come from schools including Southold, Mattituck and Shoreham-Wading River.
