Chabad of Port Washington is hosting two candle-lighting ceremonies on the first night of Hanukkah. Check other local Chabads for similar ceremonies and other holiday family special events.

COST Register by Monday; $12 for adults, $10 per child; $36 maximum per family

First, fill up on pizza, salad and snacks. Then, the dreidel spinoff begins. Winner receives a trophy. Each family member receives chocolate gelt. A community menorah lighting follows at 7:30 p.m. The JCC also is hosting Hanukkah Bubblemania at 4 p.m. Dec. 5, starring Seth "The Bubble Guy." $10 a person. Booths include squirting out the Hanukkah candles, Hanukkah sand art, stuff your own doughnut and more. For any age, including family members of special-needs kids. A slew of volunteers will be available to assist children on the autism spectrum, for instance, or with cerebral palsy, says Rabbi Yakov Saacks, director of the Chai Center. In addition, the Chai Center will be having Hanukkah laser tag for all teens at Laser Kingdom in Farmingdale at 7:15 Dec. 2 for $15 a person, and family Hanukkah bowling at 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at Commack Bowl for $16 a person.
