Kidsday: Book review of 'Disneystrology'
I read the book "Disneystrology," by Lisa Finander (Quirk Books). It was a very good book, but it isn't a book that has a story.
It tells you what your birthday character says about you. Each day of the year has a different Disney character, from Cinderella to Mulan. Each day's page gives you a brief description of your personality, the traits the day's character gives you, and the key to your success. This book is a great conversation starter.
There are many recent characters, like the Incredibles, or the characters from "Cars." There are also classic Disney characters, like Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. I really enjoyed it.

Equal playing time for all
Do you think a sports coach should give the same amount of playing time to all players or give the best players the most time? I asked kids in my school that question, here are the results:
Kids who want equal time... 80
Let the better players get more time ... 30
Kids in our school feel that we can all learn by getting playing time on the field. You don't learn all that much sitting on the bench. Kids improve at different speeds and they should be able to play against kids from other schools.
Some of the kids felt that winning was always important and that the better players should get more time on the field to help the school succeed.
After all, these middle school players may one day end up on the varsity and may even win a championship. Their development is important to the program.

A puppy's second chance
When Isabella was a puppy, she was abused. Our story begins when I moved into a new apartment. I walked in and saw a little, white, cute puppy. I asked the landlord what her name was, and she said her name was Snowball. It was love at first sight.
She needed a new home and I wanted a new puppy. Instead of buying one from a pet store, we decided to give the puppy a second chance. A year before, my dog Bella had passed away, so I asked why can't we name the puppy Isabella. I screamed Isabella! My mom said that was a great name. Today Isabella is a healthy 2-year-old dog that loves to play and go on walks. That's Isabella's second chance.
You could give a furry friend a new home, too!
