Kidsday: checks out the Scream Tour
We had the best night ever when we went backstage at the Best Buy Theater for the Scream Tour in Manhattan recently. The concert featured Mindless Behavior, Hamilton Park and Diggy Simmons. We got to interview them all. (You can watch our video.)
We met Prodigy, Roc Royal, Ray Ray and Princeton, the four members of Mindless Behavior, right after they finished a photo session with lots of their fans. We love their music -- and we like them even more after seeing them perform live. If you want to find out more about them, visit the website: www.mindlessbehavior.com. Here are some highlights from our interview.
What artist or artists would you like to work in the future?
Ray Ray: Drake, Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
Prodigy: Chris Brown, Usher and Drake.
Princeton: I would like to work with No Doubt.
Roc Royal: I would like to work with Big Sean.
What are your major inspirations for your music?
Ray Ray: Our families and our fans.
Princeton: And just because we love it.
How did you come up with Prodigy, Ray Ray, Roc and Princeton for names?
Ray Ray: I had the name from birth. So the group thought it fit me because I'm the pretty boy in the group.
Prodigy: They started calling me Prodigy because I catch on to music and dancing fast.
Princeton: One of my managers, Keisha Gamble, created Princeton because whenever we're on our break time, I was always learning something new, and I know a lot about music history.
Roc Royal: Part of our management team came up with the name Roc Royal because the Roc side of me I like to give 100 percent, but the Royal side of me is the sensitive side.
What are your favorite dances?
Ray Ray: I love the moonwalk. I love to glide.
Prodigy: Mine is the hip rocker.
Princeton: I like the MB Dance . . . the dance that we were doing earlier.
Roc Royal: Mine is The Chicken.
As a group, do you always agree when making artistic decisions?
Princeton: We're all very different in many ways, but whenever there's major problems, our managers pretty much handle all that. We just focus on our artistry to the fans.
What is your favorite part about touring and recording?
Ray Ray: The fans, I love seeing the fans.
Prodigy: Fans and traveling . . . I don't like flying.
Princeton: With me, performing. I like just being onstage. I let everything go. Everything that I'm going through or stressed out about. When I'm on that stage, I don't think about nothing.
Ray Ray: I could say acting, because when we're onstage we have different characters.
