Have you ever wondered about what to wear on the first day of school? Well, let me tell you what is the right way, what is the wrong way and even what is the all right way to start school.

The first day of school is always the hardest and do you know what one of the toughest parts is? Having to choose what to wear! At our school we have a uniform, though we're not required to wear it every day. The best way to dress is to wear a white shirt, with blue pants or a blue skirt.

Is there a good reason to wear a uniform? Here at Charles A. Mulligan Intermediate School we have celebrations for the kids who wear their uniforms every quarter. The principal gives out treats like cookies and ice cream from Carvel.

Another way to dress is the all right way. To fit in the all right category, wear non-ripped blue jeans and a colorful shirt with appropriate decorations (no bad language or insulting pictures). Finally, the wrong way to dress on the first day of school is with a shredded T-shirt and dirty ripped-up jeans.

So, if you want to impress the teachers and kids, listen to us! Dress for Success. Oh, and believe!

Candy canes are sweet sellers

Do you need money for field trips? Here's a great idea. Become an entrepreneur and have a candy-cane sale. Candy canes sell quickly. You will have a stampede of kids each with 50 cents or more. Do you know candy canes come in lots of delicious flavors? Bubble gum, blueberry and rainbow will be hot sellers.

And, if you want to make a lot of money, you have to advertise. First, put up posters that make people want to buy your product. Then, make announcements on the school speaker system to attract customers. Finally, set yourself up in a good spot, maybe outside the cafeteria.

Last year our class raised $750, which we used to see a Broadway show. So, get to work, make a buck and have some fun!
