The Yellow Jackets are a traveling lacrosse team. Anyone from Long Island can try out for this team. I decided to try out for the Yellow Jackets in 2009, for the 2010 season. I was lucky to be able to make the team. I had many great experiences with the Yellow Jackets.

We had about 18 girls on our team; they were from different towns all over Long Island. I made many new friends, and I also had a few of my best friends, including classmate Kelsey Huff, with me from our town.

We practiced twice a week for two hours. We worked very hard at practice, but we also had a lot of fun.

On weekends, we traveled to different places such as New Jersey and Delaware. We were in five tournaments. Playing in the games was fun, but going to the hotel after the games was even more fun. We ran around the hotel, went into the pool, and sometimes we got in trouble for being too loud in the hallways, because of all the screaming, yelling and laughing we did.

Being a part of the Yellow Jackets was one of the best experiences I've had. I am thankful for all the new friends I made. When I go back with my town team, it is so exciting to play against my new friends. I hope that when I try out again next year, I make it!

Video game review: Lost in Shadow

I tested the video game Lost in Shadow (Hudson Games) for the Wii. It starts with a boy floating in some kind of ark. Then a man wearing black armor comes out of a cave and throws the boy off a cliff. This is how the actual game begins.

Your character is the boy. When you awake from getting thrown off the cliff, you are a shadow. As a shadow, you must face a series of obstacles or puzzles that you have to figure out. For example, you have to try to get inside a castle. To do this, you have to climb past a group of walls and pipes by pulling levers. I want a game that is more challenging, and this was almost easy.
