Kidsday: Toy teams with iPhone

The Helo TC touch-controlled helicopter is a fun toy. Instead of using a regular remote control, you control it by using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. You connect the flight deck to your device, then download an app called the Helo TC to control it. I liked that this is one of the first remote-controlled toys that uses an app.

It's fun to fly. It can fly up to 30 feet high. The bad part is that it takes a lot of practice to learn how to control it. It's recommended for ages 14 and older. I am only 9; there was some difficulty. In the end, I did get the hang of it.

The toy lost half a star in my rating because the landing gear broke on the first time flying. It is a creative and radical toy. You can visit helotc .com to see videos of it in action. You should try it.

A ride to remember

If you ever get the chance, try the Curse of DarKastle ride at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. It is an exciting and fun ride. It's about a knight who tries to get everyone out of a castle before a vampire comes. There is a 3-D screen in every room, and you are in a cart that holds up to eight people. You go into all of the rooms to see a lot of action. The lines are long, because everyone wants to experience the DarKastle ride. The cars bump and twist and go forward and backward.
