Kings Park carnival kicks off this week
Next month, Airmid
This week, the small theater company is offering bumper cars.
Airmid’s second annual carnival will begin Wednesday
Airmid, a Long Island group founded in 2000, specializes in classic plays written by women and also offers business training seminars based on theater techniques.
Proceeds from the carnival, run by Airmid and a Stony Brook company, Dreamland Amusements, will help the theater troupe produce two shows this summer, said Tricia McDermott, Airmid’s producing artistic director and founder. The carnival will offer a variety of foods and rides, such as bumper cars, McDermott said.
“They told me it’s going to be chock-a-block full of rides this year, even more than last year,” she said.
This year’s plays include a children’s show, “Jack and the Princess Who Never Laughed,” opening July 5, and an adult-oriented production, “A Little Betrayal Among Friends,” which opens July 27. The shows will be performed outdoors at the park.
