Kiviat scores 4 goals to lead Jericho
Senior Renee Kiviat score four of her career-high seven goals in the second half of No. 7 Jericho's 17-14 win over visiting Bethpage in the first round of the Nassau Class B girls lacrosse playoffs Monday. Taylor Murphy added four goals and one assist, and Stephanie Sa scored four goals for the Jayhawks (3-12). Jericho will play at No. 2 Wantagh at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals. Danielle Bergersen led No. 10 Bethpage (8-8) with six goals.
Lynbrook 16, Hewlett 13: Nicole Pataky scored six goals with two assists for No. 8 Lynbrook (12-2). Kasey Carter added four goals and three assists. Lynbrook will play at No. 1 Garden City at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals. Sam DiSalvo led No. 9 Hewlett (9-6) with five goals and one assist.
Division 18, New Hyde Park 10: Julie Ballantyne scored five goals with three assists and junior Kim Pepe scored a career-high four goals for No. 6 Division (8-8). Division will play at No. 3 Manhasset at 4 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals. Kristen Lynch led No. 11 New Hyde Park (9-7) with five goals.
Plainedge 17, Glen Cove 4: Kathleen Kennedy scored three goals with one assist for No. 5 Plainedge (8-8). Marisa Levings and Gabrielle Ragione each scored three goals. Plainedge will play at No. 4 South Side at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Gabby Morrocu led No. 12 Glen Cove (8-6) with two goals.Rocky Point 15, Harborfields 13: Caitlin Gargan had six goals and two assists and Alyssa Milano five goals for Rocky Point (10-4) in Division II. Alyssa Guido had two goals and two assists, and Julie Nolan made 17 saves. Sarah Crowley led Harborfields (9-5) with six goals.Bayport-Blue Point 24, Glenn 15: Senior Loren Generi scored seven goals and became the first player in school history with 250 career goals for Bayport-Blue Point (10-4). Senior Genevieve Stickney had a career-high 10 points (four goals, six assists). Monika Sivilli scored nine goals for Glenn (6-8).BOYS LACROSSeWard Melville 10, East Islip 5:Tyler Hegarty scored four goals with one assist for Ward Melville (13-1), which outscored East Islip 6-1 in the second half in Division I. Will Mazzone and Jack Bruckner each scored two goals. Tyler Begley led East Islip (7-7) with two goals and two assists.West Islip 20, Whitman 8: Senior Mike Sagl scored five of his career-high seven goals in an 11-0 third quarter for West Islip (14-0). The Lions, who have won 37 straight games, trailed 8-3 with 8:03 left in the second quarter, but scored 17 unanswered goals to end the game. Tom Moore added four goals, and Drew Federico had a goal and five assists. Conor Braddish had a goal and two assists, and won 15 of 19 faceoffs. Kevin Teresky led Whitman (6-8) with three goals.
