Portledge girls lacrosse made sure history would not repeat itself. The second-seeded Panthers came from behind and defeated No. 1 Hackley, 10-6, to capture the school's first NYSAIS championship Wednesday at Randall's Island.

Martine Krown scored all three of her goals during a 9-1 first-half run that erased the 2-0 Hackley advantage.

Addie Reilly had five goals and two assists, giving the senior 132 goals, which breaks the state single-season record of 129 set in 2008 by West Babylon's Shannon Smith, according to Portledge coach Jon Sandos.

Hackley defeated Portledge (16-2) in overtime in last year's final. Said Sandos: "This season was an amazing experience. These girls had one goal, to get back to the championship game and win it. This amazing group of seven seniors led the way and they deserve everything they've accomplished."
