Drivers should expect to see delays the next few weeks in Nassau and Suffolk counties as state officials plan to close several travel lanes on state roadways for pavement repairs.

To avoid busy commuter traffic, the construction is scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., officials said.

The roads affected by lane closures include: Main Street in Port Jefferson; North Country Road in St. James; Northern Boulevard in Glen Cove; service roads on the Long Island Expressway at Walt Whitman Road; Hempstead Turnpike at Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway; and Wantagh State Parkway.

Also, some lanes will be closed during overnight hours on Route 106/107 over the LIE.

Officials expect construction at each location to last for several days. An overall timetable was not specified, but officials said the work should take several weeks. For more information, call 511 or visit511NY.org.
