Laughs sing in 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'
"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," the musical con game based on the 1988 film, relies on chemistry -- not between lovers so much as louses. Christopher Dufrenoy as a veteran grifter taking advantage of rich dowagers on the Riviera may have met his match in Matt Senese's slovenly upstart. As directed by Jason Allyn, they make snappy comic adversaries in this BroadHollow romp that opens in Elmont after a run in East Islip. Add a beautiful blonde mark (full-throated Jaclyn Casano), and the mix for laughter and lyrical byplay is almost complete. Kim Dufrenoy and Eric Rectanus supply the rest as a wildly immature mature couple. They hit the right notes to a recorded score on Bob Butterly's glowing pastel set.
