Laureano pitches Upper Room to title

Ramon Laureano threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks as Upper Room topped Portledge, 9-0, on Wednesday night for the IPPSAL championship.

It was the seventh straight IPPSAL title and the ninth in the last 10 years for Upper Room.

It was the fourth no-hitter of the season for Laureano, who tossed one on April 24 against St. Ann's.

Wilson Agramonte hit a three-run homer in the first inning to give Upper Room (22-1) a 3-0 lead.

Gianni Carbone added two hits and three RBIs in the win for the Royals.

Great Neck South wins.Matt Hirshon and Brendon Lum each had three hits as Great Neck South (15-4) won its second straight Countywide title with a 9-3 victory over Elmont.
