Steven Laurino found Shane Hubbard for a 19-yard touchdown with 6:47 remaining to give LIU Post a 28-27 win over Assumption in the Northeast-10 conference yesterday. The Pioneers (2-2, 2-1) erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Manny Dopazo and David Sumter sacked quarterback Trevor Vasey on third-and-6 at the Post 40, forcing Assumption to punt.

Matt Heriveaux ran for a 1-yard touchdown to give Assumption a 27-14 lead, but the extra point by Tad Beuchert was missed.

Laurino, who completed 27 of 40 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns, connected with Kamron Palmer for a for a 48-yard touchdown to cap a seven-play, 87-yard drive and pull Post within 27-21 with 9:54 remaining.

Palmer finished with 117 yards on seven catches. Hubbard had eight receptions for 96 yards.

Laurino rushed for a pair of 5-yard touchdowns in the first quarter as the Pioneers took a 14-0 lead. Vasey connected with Ashton Grant for a 12-yard touchdown pass for the first of 27 unanswered points for the Greyhounds (1-3, 1-2).

Hobart 42, USMMA 7: Colin Hinchey rushed for 104 yards on 13 carries but Merchant Marine (2-2) fell in a non-conference game. USMMA allowed 487 yards of total offense, including 404 rushing yards, and allowed 7 yards per play to Hobart (4-0), which came into the game ranked 11th nationally in Division III.

Mario Colangelo had 15 carries for 64 yards for Merchant Marine, which rushed for 246 yards and 4.5 yards per carry. USMMA trailed 42-0 before Colangelo scored with 13:52 left in the fourth quarter. Hobart scored on a pair of short touchdown runs in the first quarter before Conner Hartigan scored on a 75-yard touchdown run with 13:24 left in the second.
