Layoffs in the pandemic lead to career changes

After Keri Gardner lost her job due to COVID-19 related declines in her company's business, she needed to rethink how she was going to make a living. Now she works as an owner-operator for Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions, a franchise that filters and recycles cooking oil from commercial kitchens across the country for biodiesel fuel and increases kitchen safety by eliminating hot bins of oil.
