Learning about marine mammals in Babylon

Pre-school children and their parents gathered Sunday at the Sport Fishing Education Center in Babylon to learn about marine mammals.

Tracy Marcus, marine program educator, showed the children marine artifacts such as whale teeth, walrus tusks and sea otter fur.

Children perused the fish tanks and even touched starfish before concluding with arts and crafts.

The Sport Fishing Education Center, which is part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, is located at Ceadar Beach Marina.
