Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko has set Aug. 31 as the date for Mastic Beach residents to vote on whether to incorporate as a village, Brookhaven announced Tuesday.
Lesko made the announcement following New York State Supreme Court Thomas F. Whalen’s dismissal Thursday of a court challenge by some local residents who oppose incorporation.
Lesko sent a letter to Town Clerk Patricia A. Eddington Monday informing her of the date and instructing her to coordinate election efforts with the Suffolk Board of Elections. .
