Lessons in Christmas tree safety

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, the chief safety instructor of the Nassau County Firefighters Museum & Education Center in Garden City, John V. Murray, and volunteer firefighters simulated a residential Christmas tree fire during an event to publicize Christmas tree safety tips at the center Wednesday. One of the goals of the event was to demonstrate how quickly a live Christmas tree can become engulfed in flames if allowed to dry out.
