LETTER: Catholic parishes help with food pantries
I read your story about food pantries ["Food pantries running thin," News, Nov. 23]. While you mention a few places to give, a glaring omission is the Catholic Church.
There are 133 Catholic churches on Long Island, and many have some sort of food pantry. Many of them give and help out the poor.
Approximately 50 percent of Long Islanders identify as Roman Catholic. The church should be a significant part of any story on social ministry of this type.
