While it is wonderful that writer Ibrahim Negm recognizes the opportunities available to Muslims in the United States and the contributions they can make to this nation ["American Muslims, American goals," Opinion, Sept. 7], I found one thing glaringly missing in his op-ed piece.

Where is his call on Muslim governments and religious leaders to unconditionally allow for freedom of worship for non-Muslims in Muslim-dominated states? The shared values that Negm says are held by both Americans and Muslims are baseless unless Islamic leaders condemn attacks on non-Muslims and advocate for freedom of worship and freedom of conscience in the Muslim world.
