Letter: Corzine has shed 'decency'
I question the use of the word "decency" in your editorial, when you say that former MF Global chief Jon Corzine "had the decency not to take the Fifth Amendment" during his appearance before the House Agriculture Committee ["Regulatory dysfunction for all to see," Dec. 9].
There isn't anything decent about a former chief executive of a securities firm, with a resume that includes former head of Goldman Sachs and experience as a U.S. senator and governor from New Jersey, not able to account for $1.2 billion in missing clients' money. This, despite MF Global being regulated by a number of authorities and agencies.
All the more chilling is that this occurred after the 2008 financial debacle that tanked our economy. If anything, decency and integrity were casualties in this sordid mess.
