Regarding columnist Janus Adams' lengthy and negative essay about the movie "The Help" ["'The Help' omits too many painful truths," Opinion, Aug. 26]: She said she was prepared not to like the movie, and so she did not.

However, since she was not discussing the author's true work, the book, but a processed version of the story, which was screenwritten, cast, edited and cut, I say: Perhaps the true message in this really fun and whimsical story is that the riches of relationships make people wealthier than their bank accounts and social status.

I hope Adams will pick up the book and give it a chance instead of using a movie to count up slights against dark-skinned people.
