I have always waited for Andy Rooney's 5-minute musings on "60 Minutes" ["Retiring Rooney admits: He can't really complain," News, Oct. 3].

I have never forgotten one segment where he displayed several kitchen gadgets, saying he couldn't understand their usage -- some of which I still have and use! I laughed so.

And the segment about the little red lights staying on all night -- the TV, the alarm clock, etc. And another about how he loves his manual typewriter. I so loved mine. You see, we are of the same wonderful era.

Thank you, and God bless you, Mr. Rooney.
