Letter: Hospital has been a good neighbor

Regarding "Hospital, neighbors face off over plans for new lots" [News, Nov. 30], South Nassau Communities Hospital has always been a good neighbor and taken the concerns of the surrounding neighbors into account. I personally can tell you that the administration of the hospital has gone so far, on their own time, as to knock on doors in the neighborhood to explain the growth and expansion, and address any concerns the residents may have.
Many of the residents praised the quality of health care at the facility. You could go there for stitches, to have a broken bone set or deliver a baby. Now you receive state-of-the-art health care. With this kind of health care comes growth. Also, many of the employees who have been legally parked have finished their shift only to find their tires slashed and their cars keyed. More parking will not devalue the homes in the area, it will only add value, relieve the street congestion and, with trees and plants, be aesthetically pleasing.
