Regarding Ruben Navarrette Jr.'s column "Obama takes Latino votes for granted" [Opinion, Nov. 27], I have to wonder why this latest advocate for lawlessness feels certain people in this country illegally should get a pass and be allowed to break the law of this land with impunity?

President Barack Obama has not inflicted "immeasurable pain" on illegal immigrants or their families; this is a fallacy. Any pain inflicted as a result of a deportation originated with the immigrants themselves, when they decided to enter or bring their kids or relatives into the United States illegally.

Navarrette got one thing right. Latinos do have a choice to make in the next election: whether they will put their ethnicity above the law of this land and illegal immigrants before American citizens.
