In response to your article "FDNY and cancer" [News, Sept. 1], there have been dozens who toiled down at Ground Zero and have died from "certain cancers" since Sept. 11, and there are many more who are ailing today from the same contributing factors.
I was there that fateful morning and for the cleanup until July 1, 2002. I feel for all the families who lost their soul mates from exposure to all that toxic dust and debris, and each day that goes by, I think about all my comrades who are ailing and are worse off than I.
