Letter: Not in GOP interest to help Obama

Standard & Poor's said that it downgraded America's debt because the Republicans and Democrats would not be able to agree on what's best for the country ["S&P lowers U.S. credit rating," News, Aug. 6].
When you think about it, S&P is absolutely right. Why would the Republicans ever want to help President Barack Obama and the Democrats when it's to their advantage to have the economy tank so the GOP can take over the presidency and Senate in addition to the House? The two-party system does not work.
