Letter: Outside test scorers are essential

The proposal to have teachers in other regions grade students' tests is a huge step forward toward improving the education system and maintaining the highest possible ethics .
For 20 years, I have been chairman of the New York Emmy Awards and have overseen the Emmy Awards process. What the Emmy organization has learned in the past 55 years is that when six to 10 qualified judges from other regions evaluate the same work, you get more accurate scoring.
I have heard the lament in school board meetings, "It's for the children." Well, this time, it really is for the children.
