Letter: Red-light cameras and strobe lights

Your editorial "Bad drivers get the message" [Sept. 13] praised the new red-light cameras, but they have a serious flaw. At night, they use strobes to take pictures. Having a bright light flashed in my eyes while I am driving is distracting at best. These strobe lights are a serious safety issue.
Creating a new hazard to mitigate an old one is a bad idea. Perhaps they could use lowlight cameras, or infrared flash and cameras? If this is not technically possible, then save the cameras for the daytime.
