Letter: Remember our troops this season

It is very gratifying in the holiday season to know that many of our brave men and women who have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are coming home ["Homecoming 2011," News, Dec. 18].
Every American owes an extreme debt of gratitude to these brave men and women who risked their lives daily to protect freedoms that we sometimes take for granted.
Also, let us remember all of those more than 4,000 servicemen and women who gave their lives in these conflicts, and their families, who have lost loved ones. For those families whose soldiers are coming home, we are truly happy for all of you.
