What creates jobs? Conservative Republicans keep repeating the "mantra" that tax breaks for the rich create jobs, but recent history shows that's not true. Our economy was far better before, during the Clinton administration, than since President George W. Bush gave tax cuts to the rich.

Businesses will have the confidence to hire people when there are people who have the money to buy their products. But middle-income people will actually have less money available to buy products when they have to pay more -- for health insurance, education, etc. So cutting programs in those areas is counterproductive toward producing jobs.
