Letters: Growing tired of 'Occupy' movement

I find it unsettling that it took two months to finally take action against the Wall Street protesters ["Eviction at Zuccotti," News, Nov. 15]. They complained that their right to have jobs is being ignored, while they completely disregarded the rights of everyone else. They made a total mess of the privately owned park, which is an abuse of the rights of the park owners as well as local residents.
Small businesses in the area are paying the price for the protesters' demonstration. While small businesses suffered, the occupiers carelessly remained. It's about time someone sent them on their way.
It is aggravating that the protesters were readmitted to the park. They have already done enough damage.

How can the media justify the difference between their coverage of the tea party and the Occupy Wall Street movements? The tea party was called angry, racist and dangerous. One man was shown carrying a gun.
However, Occupy Wall Street is presented as a justified, grassroots democratic movement that will have a positive impact on our nation. This, despite the violence, sexual assaults, illness, property damage and anarchist Marxist ideology propagated at their events.
Occupy Wall Street protesters have commandeered public and private spaces, caused municipalities to have to pay exorbitant overtime charges for law enforcement, and caused untold trouble for residents and workers in the affected areas.
It would seem that the only similarity the two groups share is dissatisfaction with the status quo: One group wants the Constitution followed; the other wants to tear down the system and begin anew using a socialist model. Yet the media present the former as a threat, and the latter as representative of Americans' right to dissent.
