LETTERS: Hunger, vaccinations and more
Now our neighbors need our generosity
I think it was wonderful that so many of us Americans supported Haiti in its hour of need with money, medical aid, food drives and benefit concerts. Even texting $10 to the Red Cross was a brilliant idea.. So $1 million will be real easy for everyone to raise to help our fellow Americans and neighbors right here at home. I was wondering when the help will arrive?

Don't 'guilt' parents for trusting instincts
I just love how pediatricians and those in the medical field are guilting us parents for believing the "Jenny McCarthys of the world" regarding the harm vaccinations may cause .
I do trust the medical field and its findings - to an extent. But please do not deny parents' instincts and experiences regarding their own children. Autism is just as serious as those other diseases, except currently without a cure. Don't underestimate our awareness of the risks vs. the benefits. We are weighing our odds and it's our choice to do so until we get all the answers.

Obama's nuclear plan deserves support
Instead of a rant on not using nuclear energy , I'd rather read why we should use it. Getting us off the dependence on foreign oil comes to mind.
Why is it when other alternatives are sited, the naysayers say "Oh no, we can't do that." Windmills? Not in my back yard, they'll spoil my view. Nuclear energy? No, too dangerous. You don't want to drill offshore for oil, either. Meanwhile France has their many nuclear power plants and the U.S. Navy has many nuclear-powered ships that haven't been refueled in 25 years. Imagine the barrels of oil saved.

Editorial missed the rest of the story
Your editorial on President Barack Obama's deficit panel , contained an incomplete sentence. It read, "But in a sorry example of what ails Washington, seven Republicans who co-sponsored the bill doomed it by voting no." (Oh! Those despicable Republicans.) It should have continued, "because the Democratic-dominated panel would have given political coverage for Obama to justify breaking his repeated promise not to raise middle class taxes by one dime."
