Medford/Arrest in bank robbery
A Shoreham man was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing a Medford bank branch earlier in the morning and then fleeing on a bicycle, Suffolk police said.
Angel Delgado, 29, of 54 Cooper St., Shoreham, was charged with first-degree robbery.
Delgado entered the Chase Bank at 700 Patchogue-Yaphank Rd. about 9:20 a.m., police said, and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied, police said, and Delgado left.
Responding officers saw a man who matched the description of the bank robber riding a bicycle south on Station Road in Medford.
After the officers told Delgado to stop, he jumped off the bicycle and ran into nearby woods, police said. He was captured after a short foot pursuit, police said.
Delgado was to be arraigned in First District County Central Islip Wednesday.

A Port Jefferson Station man was arrested on charges of menacing and resisting arrest after Sixth Precinct officers used a stun gun on him outside a Selden tanning salon early Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.
Christian Palma, 39, was treated and released from St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson after police used the stun gun to detain him at Tanfasia, 1070 Middle Country Rd., in Selden at about 12:30 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Nassau police said Tuesday they are looking for a masked man who robbed a Massapequa convenience store Monday with a serrated weapon, possibly a drywall saw.

The man, who wore a black ski mask, then reached into the register, taking an unspecified amount of money. He fled on foot south on North Maple Street, police said.
Police said the weapon could have been a drywall knife, about 8 to 10 inches long, with a reddish handle.
No injuries were reported. No customers were in the store at the time.

HEMPSTEAD/2 charged in car theft
Two Roosevelt men were arraigned on first-degree robbery charges Tuesday after police said they stole a car at gunpoint in Hempstead, later ditched the vehicle and then tried to elude Nassau officers by running through yards in Franklin Square.
The men -- Marcus Hutchinson and Sharif Robinson, both 21 and of 130 E. Pennywood Ave. -- displayed a handgun and forced a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman from a 2001 Cadillac parked on Nostrand Place at about 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Fifth Squad detectives said.
Neither the man nor woman was injured, and Hutchinson and Robinson drove off, going east on Albermarle Avenue, police said.
Fifth Precinct officers saw the car on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square and tried to pull over the car. The two men finally stopped on Van Buren Street, where they ran off.
After a search that included Fifth Precinct officers, a police dog, special operations officers and a helicopter, the two men were arrested early Monday on Hancock Avenue, police said.
A loaded handgun, which was discarded by the two, was found in the front yard of a home on Van Buren Street, and the car was impounded, police said.
Each man is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon. Hutchinson also is charged with a second count of criminal possession of a weapon.
